Who We Are
The Bakulas are a veteran team, having played in the very first season
of Floyd NY's bocce league as Team Tits. In a failed ploy for mainstream
respectability, the team changed their name to The Bakulas last
year. (They're named after Scott Bakula, star of the underappreciated
1991 football comedy Necessary Roughness. For a long time, Tits
had one, lone woman on the team, a la Kathy Ireland in the movie,
and most importantly, the team often must come back from a huge
deficit to win the big game with the utmost drama--just like Scott
Bakula.)
The Bakulas' training regimen includes cell phone drills to make
sure enough people will actually show up to play, and drinking an
entire Crap-o-Copia before games. Their secret weapon is a highly
specialized inconsistency in play, which always keeps their opponents
guessing. Often, it keeps their opponents winning, as well. The Bakulas,
self-styled bocce purists, have never worn costumes or uniforms,
despite intense media pressure. Team captain Scott Chinn maintains
that his team's impressive first-season record and subsequent losing
streak is due to the resurfacing of Floyd NY's clay court. Many analysts
call this a red herring, however, and point to the fact that The
Bakula's two best players moved to Italy this summer.
