Joanie Loves Bocce is more than just a bocce team with a kick-ass name. Its a community; a dream; an idea; a city on a hill; an empire. Joanie Loves Bocce comes to play. The JLB, as its members like to call it, is an experiment in solidarity. As partisan politics, economic woes, and war tear at the fabric of America, the citizens of Brooklyn can find inspiration in the JLB. But who are the JLB?

Eric (Arnold) is a lanky kid from the Boogie-down Bronx with a spunky approach to the game. Lisa (Joanie) is a spicy young lawyer with a flair for the finesse game. Kirstie (Laverne) and Danielle (Shirley) are a couple of gals living in Park Slope who tear up the bocce court like they tear through Brooklyn and beers on their bikes. When Jake (Richie) and Teresa (Lori Beth) are teamed up at the same end of the bocce court you can see why they belong together, and why they belong on the bocce court. Abby (Leather Tuscadero) is a rocker chick who belts out the tunes and belts the other teams balls all over the courts. Adam (Al Delvecchio) is almost as good with the bocce balls as he is in the kitchen; and he's damn good in the kitchen. Paul (Chachi) is a fierce competitor, unpredictable, a maverick both on and off the bocce court. And the team captain, spiritual leader, and benevelont despot Matt (the Ghengis Fonz) is a master strategist with a sweet touch. Alone, each one is a tough competitor on and off the bocce court. Together, they are the bocce empire of Joanie Love Bocce.
